Short answer: Check a UAE travel ban with the authority in the emirate where your case is. For Dubai, use the Dubai Police app or website (log in with UAE PASS) and open Inquiry about Circulars and Travel Bans. For Abu Dhabi, use the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department’s Estafser service with your Unified ID (UID). Both are free. A Dubai check does not show bans issued in other emirates.

How to check a travel ban in Dubai
- Open the Dubai Police app or dubaipolice.gov.ae and log in with UAE PASS.
- Go to Services and open Inquiry about Circulars and Travel Bans (listed under financial cases).
- Confirm your details (Emirates ID is linked through UAE PASS) and submit.
- The result shows any circular or travel ban linked to a Dubai financial case and the authority that issued it. That authority is the one that can lift it.
Questions: call Dubai Police on 901 or visit any Smart Police Station (open 24/7). This check covers Dubai cases only; it will not show a ban from Abu Dhabi, another emirate or a federal court.
How to check a travel ban in Abu Dhabi (Estafser)
- Go to the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department website or app and open eServices.
- Choose Estafser (“Ask”).
- Enter your Unified ID (UID) number and submit.
- Estafser shows travel bans, pending cases, arrest warrants and payment orders recorded in Abu Dhabi.
ADJD reports that 97% of Estafser inquiries are answered within one working day. Your UID is printed on your residence visa page and in your ICP / UAE PASS profile.
Ras Al Khaimah and the northern emirates
In Ras Al Khaimah, use the RAK government digital portal’s case inquiry with your case number and year, or ask the CID section at any RAK police station if you have no case number. In Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, ask at a police station or the relevant court with your Emirates ID or passport. If you lived or worked in several emirates, check each one.
Can I check a UAE travel ban with only my passport number?
Mostly no, not online. The Dubai Police check runs through UAE PASS and your Emirates ID, and Estafser needs your UID. With a passport number only, you can:
- Ask at a police station in the emirate concerned.
- Ask GDRFA / an Amer centre about an immigration or visa ban on your file.
- Appoint a UAE lawyer under a power of attorney to run the checks for you. This is the usual route if you are outside the UAE.
Be careful with websites that ask for your passport number and promise an instant “ban check”. They are not official services.

What to do if the check shows a ban
- Note the case number and the issuing authority from the result.
- Resolve the cause: pay or settle the debt, satisfy the judgment, or close the case.
- Get proof (payment receipt, settlement, judgment or closure).
- Apply to the issuing court or prosecution to lift the ban if it is not lifted automatically. The Ministry of Justice has introduced automatic lifting once a case is resolved across UAE judicial authorities, but confirm with a fresh check before you book travel.
- Do not go to the airport to test it. Immigration officers cannot lift a ban at the counter.
